SO YOU WANNA COMPETE, HUH?

Congrats, you are a brave soul, or perhaps a foolish one. Either way, welcome to the gauntlet.
This year we have two leagues, separated by age:
Lil Smokies (Ages 7-16)
Big Dogs (Ages 17-Infiniti)
You are competing for CASH. More people want to compete than there are spots. We’d rather have eaters compete than punctual early birds, so we are selecting competitors through a qualifying round.
You will do this qualifying round at your own home on your own schedule and dollar.
Eleven people in each league will compete for the crown on July 4th.
We are reserving one of the eleven slots in each league for day-of signups. There will be a brief qualifying round held in front of the audience. The top competitor will earn a seat at the contest. It will be embarrassing and likely affect your performance in the competition.
Ten of the competitor slots will be pre-selected based on our at-home two part qualifying round.
PART ONE: Fill out this brief survey (click me). Read this before making your video. We have a few additional screening questions. This is an amateur competition for amateurs. This is not for competitive eaters or mukbangers. We will google you.
PART TWO: Film yourself eating as many hot dogs as possible in 60 seconds and post the video online in a place that we can share it (youtube, facebook). If that is too difficult, you can send us a video and we will post it. Publicly posting the video is part of it. You don’t get to post a private video.
We will select ten contestants for each league based on the following criteria:
How many amount of hot dogs in 60 seconds.
How patriotic you consume the dogs. Be creative. Be boring. Be patriotic.
This is a Port Angeles event celebrating our Country 250th Anniversary AND PORT ANGELES. Say a reason why you love Port Angeles or are proud of Port Angeles.
So it’s not just about how many Hot Dogs you eat. It’s about how you eat the dogs and how you feel about Port Angeles.
The video submission is the same for both leagues. Lil Wieners can eat little hot dogs if they desire. Judgement of these submissions is subjective. This event and entire process is both funny and stupid: if your submission feels funny and/or stupid you are nailing it.
We encourage creativity. Wow us with your hot dog eating prowess.
The video should include your name, mention the Port Angeles July 4th celebration, and be sharable. Know that we intend to share these videos.

We will review videos and send out contestant confirmations the evening of Thursday July 2nd. Applicants who do not submit a video will have to participate in a same-day qualifier on July 4th. This will handicap your performance in the main event. Video submissions are encouraged.
